Table Rock exists to make disciples who delight in Jesus above all things for the joy of all peoples, especially Boise.
Our Beliefs
Theology shapes both who we are and what we do as the redeemed people of God. Both our identity and mission comes from what we believe about God, His Word, His Work, and His World. Paul told Timothy to “guard the deposit of faith entrusted to him” and we seek to do the same. Therefore Table Rock Church holds firmly to historic Christian orthodoxy as expressed in the Apostles’, Nicene, and Chalcedonian creeds. In addition to these we express our beliefs in the following “Member Affirmation of Faith.”
-
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament, is the authoritative and powerful word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
-
We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; and that these are the same divine essence, are equal in every divine perfection, and they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.
-
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, justice, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that he infallibly foreknows all that shall come to pass, that he concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that he hears and answers prayer, and that he saves from sin and death all who come to him through Jesus Christ.
-
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's unique and eternal Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for his people, and personal, visible return to earth.
-
We believe in the Holy Spirit sent by the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, distributing gifts as he wills for the edification of the church, and that he is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.
-
We believe that man was created by God in his own image; that he sinned and thereby incurred physical, spiritual and eternal death, which is separation from God; that as a consequence, all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are sinners by choice and therefore under condemnation. We believe that those who repent and forsake sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become a new creation, delivered from condemnation, and receiving eternal life.
-
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers united in Jesus Christ, baptized, and associated for worship, work, discipleship, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
-
We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of all peoples; that their conduct should be blameless before the world; that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions; and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.
-
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church, baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that Christians should be baptized in the name of the triune God and regularly share in the Lord’s Supper to commemorate his death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
We believe that marriage joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive, lifelong union and that God designed and directs sexual intimacy exclusively for one man and one woman married to each other. Any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography, or any attempt to change or disagree with one’s biological sex is sinful and offensive to God.
-
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the final establishment of his kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment of all people, the endless misery of the wicked and the eternal joy of the righteous in God’s presence.

Our Convictions
Our convictions inform our practice and how we function as a church in accordance with our doctrinal beliefs. Therefore, our convictions are the distinctives that we’ll use to emphasize what we believe and what we value.
-
We believe a direct result of the life changing power of the gospel is that our hearts and affections have been captured by the object of our faith. Therefore we believe our wholehearted pursuit in this life is joy in Christ and would express that in what some have called “Christian Hedonism” or as articulated in the Westminster Confession of Faith: our chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
-
Our theology finds its expression in the five solas of the reformation:
SOLA GRATIA = by grace alone
SOLA FIDE = through faith alone
SOLUS CHRISTUS = in Christ alone
SOLA SCRIPTURA = as revealed in scripture alone
SOLI DEO GLORIA = to the glory of God alone
As such, we are in broad agreement with the great confessions of faith such as the Westminster Confession of Faith andmore particularly the 1689 London Baptist Confession. We believe there is one overarching redemptive narrative that all of scripture (from the Old Testament to the New Testament) is pointing to. We believe Luke articulates this well in Luke 24 when he wrote, “beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he (Jesus) interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.”
-
Our ecclesiology (the nature, structure, and practice of our church) is baptistic in nature meaning:
We only baptize those who make a credible confession of faith.
Our church governance involves members, elders, and deacons.
We belong to the Southern Baptist Convention and identify as a reformed baptist church.
-
We believe God had a purposeful and beautiful design in calling both men and women his children but giving them different roles in the family and the church (Genesis 1:27). We reject that God has created men as superior or more significant. Men are not inherently smarter or more capable, but that does not mean that God has not given different roles for men and women (Genesis 2:18–24).
-
When we say we are continuationists, we believe that the gifts of the Spirit, including the miraculous or charismatic gifts as seen in the New Testament era, still remain active in the life of believers.

Our Values
Because of our beliefs and convictions, there are specific things we value that will shape our church culture and practice. These are our values as a church.
-
We desire all that we do in our Sunday gatherings be centered on the person, work, and promise of Jesus by beholding and reflecting the glory of Christ. This means our singing, praying, preaching, fellowshiping, and receiving the means of grace in the ordinances are centered on Christ and His glorious gospel that we believe is the power of Salvation for those who believe.
-
The Bible is at the core of everything we do. It guides our small groups, takes center stage in our Sunday services, informs our discipleship, and shapes our beliefs and practices. We cherish and trust the Bible as the central authority in our church and in our lives.
-
As expressed in our mission statement, we are committed to obeying Jesus's call in Matthew 18:19-20 to “go and make disciples.” Whether praying for and engaging with someone who does not yet treasure Christ or seeking to sharpen and be sharpened alongside fellow believers, we are a church committed to going and to growing — especially through one-on-one and small group discipleship.
-
Motivated by the gospel, we are a people who actively extend hospitality by opening wide the doors of our church and our homes. Whether in formal gatherings or personal spaces, we embrace a culture of caring well for one another, warmly welcoming the outsider, eagerly inviting others into our community, and letting our love point others to the great love of Christ.
-
We are joyfully part of and participate with the Treasuring Christ Togetherchurch network. TCT is a partnership of theologically like-minded, gospel-formed family of churches, joyfully serving pastors and their wives and supporting churches to start and (re)start new Christ-treasuring churches. We share their DNA, mission, vision, and values.

Partners
Table Rock Church has been blessed with some amazing partnerships, not only on the individual level here in Boise, in Minneapolis, and around the country, but also from other churches and church organizations.
While we believe in the autonomy of the local church under the leadership of the elders, we also believe partnerships allow for strategic advancement of the gospel both far and near. The help of these partners has been crucial in our church planting efforts in Boise!
